Celtic Frost in moderner Spielart, viel Melodie und auch einige Grooves, die im Ohr hängenbleiben. Das war der erste Eindruck, den ich von "Carved In Stone" hatte. Also nicht gerade die schlechtesten Referenzen, da später auch noch eine Menge 80er Jahre Thrash Metal und Sepultura-mässige Gitarrenläufe (zu "Roots"-Zeiten) mit dazukommen. Wer ruft da gerade, dass der gute alte Thrash wieder im Aufwind ist? Auch der modernere Thrash à la Machine Head wird zitiert, es gibt auch einige Metalcore-mässige Abschnitte. Der Gesang gewinnt im Laufe der knapp 29 Minuten an Profil, so dass ich hier später nicht mehr von einer Tom Gabriel Fischer-Kopie sprechen kann, wie ich zu Anfang fürchtete. Es haben sich auch einige stimmungsvolle Akustikteile in die Musik eingeschlichen, die das Spektrum der Band unheimlich erweitern.

Krossbreed ist mit "Carved In Stone" ein gutes drittes Werk gelungen, das sich vor den Produktionen von "grossen" Bands aus diesem Bereich nicht zu verstecken braucht. Im Promozettel ist die Rede von vier verschiedenen Musikern, die versuchen ihre Ideen von Heavy Metal zu vereinen. Und das hört man auch, diese EP ist sehr Abwechslungsreich geworden und bietet allen Freunden der härteren Klänge etwas, was sie mögen dürften. Von daher ist diese EP auch zu keiner Zeit langweilig. Die fünf Stücke gehen gut ins Ohr und da bleiben sie auch eine ganze Weile. Eine CD, die man immer wieder mal gerne auflegt.

Auch Produktionstechnisch ist alles im grünen Bereich, die Instrumente sind allesamt gut zu hören und klar aufgenommen worden. "Carved In Stone" vereint die alte und neue Schule des Thrash Metals in gekonnter Weise. Damit kann ich diese CD nur wärmstens empfehlen.

Krossbreed with "Carved in Stone" succeeded in releasing a good third release, which should not need to hide from the productions of the "big" bands from this genre. In the promo card is talk of four different musicians who try to combine their ideas in one heavy metal unit. And you can hear that, the EP has a very varied range and has something for all friends of the heavy sounds like one would expect. It is also an EP that is never boring. The five pieces go well into the ear and also because they stay their. A CD that you always like to listen to again.

Also production technically wise, everything is in the green area, the instruments are all good to hear and have been clear recorded. "Carved in Stone" combines the old and new school thrash Metals in a skilful way. I really recommend this cd.
