KROSSBREED - ENJOY THE RAGE
INDEPENDENT
METAL TO INFINITY
Belgium has much more to offer in stead of Brussels Waffles, the best beer in the world and Manneken Pis. We have an underground scene that is alive and kicking and spitting out demos and new material on a regular base. Only
one remark: it seems like our underground is a bit deeper and harder to
find... Once you're in, you don’t want to leave, especially when new
talent is showing up and giving the mind and ears what they are longing
for: a decent piece of metal.
For
instance: Krossbreed, a band hailing from Melsele, Beveren (Antwerp
area) and ready to unleash their second demo called Enjoy The Rage. Those
who are familiar with their first output, "Down To The Core", will be
pleased to hear that the band improved a lot in sound and general
quality. Krossbreed needed that change to get their place and rank on
Belgian soil, and perhaps the change in line up was the 'needed' cradle
of advance. If you compare their course of life with a ladder, they
ascend one rung, but it needs to be said, the way is still high and
steep.
Speaking
about music, we must admit that "Enjoy The Rage" sounds a bit more
mature, a bit more driven, and a bit more heavier and faster. 5
songs were recorded, one video was made and if you include the spoken
and instrumental intro, you will summarize 7 tracks. Luckily, the
production is much more in balance so, it's no challenge to give the
demo a few spins or a randomly repeating listening session. Krossbreed
express their modest wrath in tracks like Again and True Identity, and
give full speed ahead in a song like "Down To The Core".
By
any chance, the title track is my personal favorite track and the
mixture of Machine Head guitar chirps, piercing and penetrating
outbursts of violence and cooling down riffs, conclude that this band
breathes anger. Let these four youngsters
enter a pro-recording studio with an adequate producer, and I'm sure
that all hell breaks loose... So far, the band is unsigned, so let that
be the next goal to reach, and hopefully, Krossbreed will pay more
attention on the inlay of the booklet, 'cause right now, the lyrics are
really hard to read...
My
suggestion for the next coming months: maintain live gigs, because
intense playing results in more intense writing and a coherent sound. Focus
to broaden Krossbreed' horizon and add more diversity in the vocal
range of Michel. Fans of Pro-Pain, older Machine Head, and Max Cavalera
vocals need to check their homepage and order your copy of Enjoy The
